The Caraway Coffee Maker brews ground coffee automatically into a glass carafe. It is a drip coffee maker, not an espresso machine or a capsule brewer. Caraway says it uses a controlled bloom, even water distribution, and a brew temperature of 195–205°F. A single dial starts brewing or the cleaning cycle.
Its defining claim concerns where the water and coffee travel: a glass reservoir, stainless-steel water path, shower head and brew basket, then a glass carafe. At $495, the value depends on how much you want an automatic, multi-cup brewer with this particular material path and appearance. A manual glass pour-over costs far less but asks you to do the pouring.

The published feature list emphasizes one-dial operation, rather than a timer or multiple brew modes. If waking to an already-brewed pot matters, confirm the exact controls before buying.
What kind of filter does it use?

How much maintenance is involved?
Caraway recommends descaling monthly with daily use and filtered water, more often with hard water, and at least every three months in general. The cleaning mode takes about 15 minutes, followed by a water-only rinse cycle.
Who should shortlist it?
Shortlist it if you want one-button drip coffee for a household, care about avoiding plastic contact in the stated brew path, and are comfortable paying a premium for materials and design.
